Do you know what it really means to be arrested? (probably, because you're reading this!).  It means a huge, expensive, system of government is working against you.    The police officers are against you.  Lab Technicians, investigators, crime scene investigators.  The prosecutors are against you.  Sometimes even the Judge is against you!  ...Relax.  You’ve come to the right attorney.     You have a constitutional right to legal representation, so why not chose aggressive, experienced, intelligent counsel?   Sure, some attorneys just started defending criminal cases a couple of years ago, great.  Some ten years ago, good for them.  Mr. Guidry's been fighting for the accused since 1993!

Even though Mr. Guidry has fought and won jury trials on serious cases like Punishable By Life crimes, you can be assured that all criminal accusations are attacked with the same level of vigor.  Some misdemeanor accusations can be just as devastating as felony charges, so we fight just as hard.

Yes, in our sixteen years of helping the accused we’ve successfully defended everything, including Sale & Delivery, DUI, battery, robberyViolations of Probation (VOP),  driving while license suspended, cocaine, trafficking, theft, and the list goes on and on.  We also represent clients looking to seal or expunge their criminal backgrounds (ever tried to get a job with a criminal record, not easy!).  Mr. Guidry’s Master’s degree and Juris Doctorate, plus 16 years of criminal defense experience, helps us with every new accusation we defend.

Mr. Guidry provides aggressive--but affordable--criminal defense.  Unfortunately, not everyone can afford this high level of criminal defense representation.  Legal fees at our law firm are always reasonable, with payment plans available.  Remember that the best legal representation doesn’t have to be the most expensive (is a Rolls Royce better than a Bentley just because it can cost twice as much?).  Our law firm handles cases in all of Central Florida, including Orange County, Seminole County, Osceola County, Brevard County, and Lake County.

John P. Guidry II, Esquire, practices criminal defense in Orlando, and has since his admission to the Florida Bar in 1993.  He graduated, with Honors, from St. Louis University School of Law in 1993 with his Juris Doctor,  a Masters of Business Administration, and his Bacholor's Degree was in Accounting.  Mr. Guidry began his criminal defense career at the Orange County Public Defender's Office in 1993, under the wonderful supervision of then elect Public Defender Joseph DuRocher (in my opinion, the best public defender, ever).  In 2001, Mr. Guidry left his position as a Felony Division Chief with that office to begin his private practice in downtown Orlando, right next to the Orange County Courthouse (where his office remains to this day).  He has defended thousands of citizens arrested on a wide range of criminal matters, including winning trials on serious crimes that are Punishable By Life, Capital Sexual Battery, all types of felony, misdemeanor, and traffic allegations.  Mr. Guidry also practices entertainment law, more specifically Music Law.  Somehow, criminal law and music law are more closely related than one might think (those in the music business know this to be true!).  Mr. Guidry has a focus on representation of Artists, Record Labels, and Management Firms.  His extensive Music Law client list includes top acts in musical genres ranging from Pop, Rap, to Rock.  For over a decade, Mr. Guidry owned and operated U.M.P. Recording Studio, an Orlando recording facility he founded in 1998.  In 2009, he sold U.M.P. to a record label, but retained a mastering facility, where to this day Mr. Guidry still engineers and masters albums for artists all over Florida.

  • Drug possession
  • Drug trafficking
  • Drug distribution
  • Drug manufacture

If you have been arrested for a drug crime, we can help

If you are arrested for a drug crime in Florida, the consequences can be serious. A conviction for possessing half a joint can lead to an automatic two year suspension of your driver's license. At the law offices of John P. Guidry II, we will assist you with your defense.

Criminal attorney John Guidry looks into every detail of your case, as he has been doing since defending his first drug charge all the way back in 1993.  We challenge the circumstances of your arrest. If you were stopped in your vehicle, did the officer have grounds to make the stop? Was the search of your home, person, or car legal? Did others have access to where the drugs were found?

We also will challenge the criminal accusations themselves. The prosecution has a high burden of proof to meet. We thoroughly prepare for every case and provide an aggressive and skilled defense on your behalf to make the prosecution meet its burden.

Before you talk to the police, talk to a skilled drug crime defense lawyer

There are many tactics that the government can use to convict you of a crime. It is legal for police officers to buy and sell drugs in what are called "buy busts" or "takedowns." Arresting officers commonly lie to suspects as a tactic to get them to confess or consent to a search. Don't talk to the authorities or consent to a search before discussing your case with an experienced defense attorney at our law firm.

DUI

Experienced Florida DUI Attorney

Driving under the influence is a mistake many people make and it has serious consequences. You may face a suspension of your license, large fines, crazy interlock devices to start your car, or even a jail sentence. If you have been arrested for DUI, there are a lot of questions that you probably want answered. Over the years, we have defended many clients arrested for DUI and we can help you find answers.

At the law offices of criminal defense attorney John P. Guidry II, we understand that people make mistakes. We also understand the serious nature of a DUI charge and we are committed to providing clients with a highly skilled criminal defense. Contact our Orlando law firm for a free consultation regarding your case.

If you have been arrested for DUI, the clock is ticking from the moment of your arrest

If have been arrested for drunk driving, you need to act quickly to protect your rights. In Florida, the DMV can suspend your license and impose other driving restrictions before you ever step into a courtroom. From the time of your arrest, you only have ten days to appeal the DMV's suspension. We can help you appeal the suspension or we can help you apply for a "hardship license" if the time for an appeal has expired.

Remember that, often times, a DUI is a crime supported only by an officers opinion.  Sure, the government attempts to bolster the officer's opinion thru use of Intoxilizer 5000 or 8000 results, but typically you have been arrested before blowing into the Intoxilizer machine because the officer's opinion is that you are impaired beyond the legal limit.  Sometimes the only way to "test" an officer's opinion is to take the DUI case to trial.  Let the citizens know all the facts, especially regarding opinion testimony regarding results of so called Field Sobriety Exercises.

Of course, once you've blown into an Intoxilizer machine, more issues for your criminal defense need to be answered before these results are admitted into evidence.  For example, was the machine calibrated properly, and working accurately at the time the driver took the breath test?  It is possible that a perfectly sober driver can blow a .15% (or higher) breath test, but how?  Too many reasons to list here, but whenever an Intoxilizer machine is presented as evidence, this machine works by analyzing very small, microscopic amounts of alcohol, thus every aspect of the machine and breath sample must be done with high precision, as it takes only a small variance in the machine or sample to cause a huge variance in results.

If you have been arrested for DUI and are now facing criminal charges, you need an attorney who will aggressively defend you against these charges in and out of court. We will explore every possible defense. We question if the officer had reasonable suspicion to stop you. Where the proper testing procedures followed? At the law offices of John P. Guidry II, our clients know that they have an experienced DUI lawyer on their side.
