Timothy J. O'Brien

Timothy J. O'Brien heads the litigation and trial team at Bakke Norman, S.C. He concentrates his practice in criminal defense, personal injury and business disputes, while also representing individuals in civil rights and employment matters. Mr. O'Brien is certified as a trial specialist by the National Board of Trial Advocacy and is included in the latest edition of Wisconsin Super Lawyers. He is also recognized by his peers for his expertise in issues related to intoxicated driving, frequently receiving referrals from other attorneys, and speaking at continuing legal education seminars on the subject. Mr. O'Brien has tried cases in both state and federal court, on matters such as personal injury, police misconduct, employment discrimination, business disputes, operating while intoxicated, and misdemeanor and felony criminal charges. He regularly represents clients in circuit courts throughout Northwest Wisconsin.

He is active in the State Bar of Wisconsin, currently serving on the Litigation Section Board of Directors and the Leadership Development committee. He has been a member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Wisconsin, and is a past president of both the State Bar Young Lawyers' Division and St. Croix Valley Bar Association. For six years, he chaired the 10th District Self-Represented Litigant's Initiative. In 2004, he received the State Bar of Wisconsin's Pro Bono Attorney of the Year Award.

Mr. O'Brien is also active in his community. He is a Past-President of the New Richmond Area Chamber of Commerce. About Us

Since 1985 Bakke Norman, S.C. has provided high quality legal services to businesses and individuals in Northwestern Wisconsin. Our attorneys and staff are not only highly skilled in their chosen areas but are also active and well respected in their communities.

Since its beginning in 1985, Bakke Norman, S.C. has gradually expanded from one office – then located in the Heritage Center in New Richmond – to three offices in Western Wisconsin. A new building was constructed across from the Heritage Center to house attorneys and staff alike for the firm in 1986. Since that time, offices have been established in Baldwin and Menomonie. From the three original attorneys (Gary Bakke, George Norman, and Thomas Schumacher) the entire staff has grown to 33 attorneys and support staff combined. Richardson Law Office of Spring Valley merged with Bakke Norman in January of 2003 to further broaden the services to our clients.
