Criminal Offenses in Los Angeles County
Crimes in the State of California vary in range and punishment.
Infractions (petty offenses, such as traffic tickets) usually don't require jail, but still can have ramifications. They can cause you to lose time at work while going to court. They can result in high fines and points on a driving record that can ultimately lead to a suspension of the license. The Law Offices of Paula Drake can help you with your infraction matter, no matter how minor. We can fight the matter at trial or appear for you to negotiate for an acceptable disposition (lower fines, traffic school, dismissals, etc.).
A misdemeanor offense usually involves a sentence of up to one year in the county jail, and a felony can carry a state prison sentence. In addition, there could be probation, fines, community service, restitution and counseling programs as part of the sentence. Legal counsel is imperative to protect your rights at every stage of your case. Prior to the filing of a case, there may exist the opportunity to persuade the prosecutor not to file the case against you by doing our own investigation at a very early stage. Having counsel when you are under investigation will protect your right against self-incrimination and may result in insufficient evidence against you. Should a case be filed against you, The Law Offices of Paula Drake will represent you in court providing your best defense. You need someone with a proven track record of dismissals and verdicts of not guilty. Your future and freedom are at stake.
