DUI Is A Criminal Defense - It Should Not Be Taken Lightly

You probably have seen the state's “Expect the Max” advertising campaign against DUI's. We strongly disagree with the state's position. Thompson & Volquardsen, P.C. will aggressively fight for you!

Each DUI is Unique:

Each Driving Under the Influence (DUI) has essentially two cases: A criminal court case and an MVD case. Both cases can have separate and related consequences, including, but not limited to, jail time, harsh monetary penalties, and driver's license implications.

There are lots of places you can get “general” information about these consequences. One more website (even if it's ours) isn't going to answer those unique and personal questions that you're going to have. Our website is designed to make you feel more comfortable with our law firm. We'll convey the legal advice to you personally.

That being said, no two DUI arrests are the same. Each case has its own unique set of circumstances and issues to be researched. The state must follow specific evidentiary guidelines when conducting a DUI investigation. Additionally, you have numerous constitutional rights that must be protected. Oftentimes, the difference between a good result and a bad result rests in one of the slightest details. Therefore, it is critical to have an attorney who understands all aspects of a DUI and will fight to protect your rights.

What To Do If Stopped For A DUI - Do's and Don'ts -

Do:

Conduct yourself in a polite, courteous and cooperative manner.

Provide license, registration and proof of insurance when requested.

Invoke your right to remain silent.

Demand an immediate, private and free call to an attorney. Mr. Thompson and Mr. Volquardsen are available 24 hours a day at 602.327.1179.

Ask for a sample of your blood, breath or urine to be preserved for an independent testing.

Invoke your right to obtain an independent chemical test of your blood or urine.

Contact Thompson & Volquardsen, P.C. for a free case evaluation and to avoid an automatic driver's license suspension.

Don't:

Don't perform any coordination, balance or eye tests.

Don't submit to a Portable Breath Test (A “PBT” is a portable, handheld breath testing device). A PBT is different than an Intoxilyzer – the actual machine that the officer may have you breath into later. You should contact an experienced DUI attorney to advise you whether you should submit to a later blood or chemical test.

Don't consent to a search of your person or your car.

Contact us now for a free case evaluation. Thompson & Volquardsen are a experienced, aggressive Arizona DUI Lawyers who will fight for you.

I am sure you heard from Jay that we won! I can not begin to tell you how pleased I am and more so how sincerely appreciative I am of all that you did to make this happen. Jay did an awesome job, as he was totally prepared, courteous, and extremely positive in his manner. I am convinced that because of how prepared he was and how he handled himself that the judge rendered the decision he did.

I most genuinely wish to say thanks to you both for all that was done and can assure you that not only will I highly recommend your services, but if perchance, God forbid, I need your services again, I will not hesitate to call. Thanks again.
-JT

I was thoroughly impressed with Woody Thompson’s capabilities and support on my case.  His expertise and experience was obvious from the very first meeting through the successful conclusion of my matter, both in court and in private consultation.  Woody drove what resulted in a successful conclusion – and his attention to detail along the entire process, his completeness and consistent follow up, and his sincere caring about what was in my best interest will always be appreciated.
-RT

Jay provided impeccable attention to my case.  He knew the law, communicated it to me precisely, heard my concerns, answered my questions, alleviated my fear, and negotiated a fair, streamlined settlement.  He was always friendly and upbeat, and in the end I could breathe a sigh of relief and feel satisfied that the very best had been done for me.
